How to Prepare for Your appointment
Physical and Mental Health
Please alert me if you have any allergies, relevant medical concerns, or need accommodations. We are wheelchair accessible.
Arrive at your appointment well rested, hydrated and fed. This improves your ability to tolerate discomfort and helps your tattoo heal faster.
Avoid alcohol and NSAIDs like ibuprofen for 24 hours before your appointment. These thin your blood and affect the quality of the tattoo.
Sunglasses are recommended for light sensitive folks, earbuds/sound dampeners are welcome.
You must be sober to get tattooed.
If you are experiencing cold or flu-like symptoms, or become pregnant, we will need to reschedule your appointment. Medical and family emergencies happen, please let me know as soon as possible if you cannot make your appointment.
Getting tattooed is an opportunity to advocate for yourself. If the design needs to be changed, or it just doesn’t feel right, let me know. Its ok to change your mind!
Physical Comfort
Bring a water bottle and snacks (or a full meal for long sessions).
Wear clean, comfortable clothes that can tolerate potential contact with ink. Bonus points if they can be easily rolled up to access the area you will be getting tattooed.
Bring a warm layer or a blanket as you will be still for long periods.
It is important to stretch, drink, eat, and take bathroom breaks. I encourage you to ask for what you need, and do not charge for this time.
Aftercare
Read the Tattoo Aftercare page to educate yourself on how you will need to take care of your tattoo.
Tattoos are open wounds and require care to heal. You will need a mild liquid soap and gentle moisturizer for use during healing. Cetaphil brand cleansers and moisturizers are good hypoallergenic options.
Wash bed linens and clothes, it is important to only contact clean surfaces during the healing phase.
Plan on refraining from swimming, soaking, sauna/sweat-lodge, and sunbathing for the two weeks following your appointment. Showers are good though!
Cancellations
No-shows or cancellations under 24 hours incur a $50 fee. Deposits are non refundable, but I can reschedule your appointment if you give me 72 hours notice. If you need to reschedule, please give me as much notice as possible.
Payment
Zelle is my preferred payment method. Cash is also good. Venmo and cards will be charged an additional 3% to cover processing fees.
Communication
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
